Faith Lutheran Church is thankful to have been blessed by OUR LORD to be one of 12,000+ congregations to have Stephen Ministry at part of our mission effort. Stephen Ministry congregations represent 170 Christian denominations and come from all 50 states, 10 Canadian provinces, and 24 other countries.
Our Stephen Leaders Team is actively involved in leading our congregation’s Stephen Ministry by training Stephen Ministers in the congregation, connecting Stephen Ministers with people who need care, and keeping our Stephen Ministry vibrant and strong.
Stephen Ministers are well-trained to provide high-quality emotional and spiritual support to people who are hurting – people with a wide range of ministry needs— grief, divorce, unemployment, hospitalization, loneliness, a spiritual crisis, financial stress, infertility, rehabilitation after an injury, terminal illness, relocation, long-term disability, and countless other life difficulties. Considering the importance and confidentiality of our mission, each Stephen Minister serves one care receiver at a time and meets with that person once a week for about an hour. Men are matched with men; women with women. The caring relationship lasts for as long as the need remains. Separate peer supervision sessions are held to insure that quality care is maintained throughout the assignments.
Faith, mercy, teaching the faith, encouragement, or knowing: Do one or more of these gifts describe you? If so, check out Stephen Ministry, our congregation’s one-to-one caregiving ministry. Contact Everett Seider, Head Elder; or Sherre West through the church office (254-968-2710) to find out more about what you can do for the Lord.
“For the perfecting of the saints, for the work of ministry, for edifying of the body of Christ; till we all come in the unity of the faith and of the knowledge of the Son of God, unto a perfect man, unto the measure of the stature of the fulness of Christ” (KJV Ephesians 4:12–13).
