Ways to be Involved in Music Ministry
Solos
Various soloists lend their music talents playing their instruments – such as piano, organ, guitar, flute, trumpet – to accompany the choir’s songs and the congregation’s hymns. They also play special music prior to our worship services, during Collection of Offering, and during Communion Distribution.
Instrumental Ensemble
From time to time, several of instrumentalists join together as an Instrumental Ensemble (guitars, trumpets, trombones, flutes, clarinets, French horns, percussion and whatever else you might play!) to accompany the congregation’s singing of hymns and provide pre-service music for special services ~ Reformation Celebration, Christmas Eve, Easter.
Chime Choir
The Adult Chime Choir provides instrumental music for the Sunday morning worship services once a month. We also play for occasional special events or programs, such as Advent by Candlelight. Rehearsals are typically on Wednesdays evenings.
The Children’s Chime Choir plays for Sunday morning worship services typically once a quarter and for special events, such as the Sunday School Christmas program and some of the Faith
School programs. This choir is for third and fourth grade students.

Vocal Choir
The Adult Vocal Choir participates in the Sunday morning worship services, typically two Sundays each month, and in special services such as Christmas Eve and Good Friday. Rehearsals are on Wednesdays. The choir is open to all adults and high school and college students who desire to praise God through vocal music in a structured setting (we usually sing SATB and SAB arrangements) and who have the ability to read music and sing on pitch.
Perhaps your schedule doesn’t allow you to participate with our choir; or you are in a choir or ensemble, and you have songs you’d like to share as a Vocal Soloist or Small Group. We encourage you to share your musical talents with the congregation in the praise of God.
It was Martin Luther who famously said, “Whoever sings once prays twice.” (This saying has also been attributed to St. Augustine, the 5th century bishop from North Africa.) Luther’s Reformation movement gained the reputation of “a singing church.” That was in contrast to typical worship in medieval Christianity, where “the experts” did the singing and “ordinary people” mostly listened. Within Faith and every other Christian church, the Congregation is the largest group making music to the LORD. It also makes the majority of the music sung during our worship services. So it is the most important of all the musical groups. We all are members of this group – the only membership requirement for this group is to have a desire to “make a joyful noise unto the Lord”. Psalm 100:1
